The Department of Dermatology and Allergology at the University Medical Center, Friedrich Schiller University, Jena combines routine and maximum dermatological care with research and education in Thuringia, one of the so-called new states of the Federal Republic of Germany. For more than 75 years, we have been treating patients, who, due to the severity or rarity of their skin or genital disease, cannot be properly cared for elsewhere. Treatment is possible either on an out-patient basis in our general clinic, in our sub-departments or during our special consultation times or on an in-patient basis in one of our hospital wards or in the day ward. Traditionally, the field of dermatology in Germany also includes other highly specialized tasks, which we carry out in the following additional departments:

As part of the University Medical Center, we carry out fundamental dermatological research as well as clinical, patient-related research. We train medical and dental students, e.g. by offering lectures and practical experience. Newly qualified doctors can also complete many parts of their training with us on their way to becoming specialists for skin and genital diseases.
